Many youths and youngsters nowadays, are normalizing street culture’s behaviour everyday in their daily lives, such as communications among people, fashion, and especially mindset. No one ever said that implementing certain behaviour is going to be really bad except if it is too much and overboard. For example, if a kid is talking in a certain language that is considered rude or sensitive to the elderly especially with their parents. Therefore, certain action needs to be taken and applied because it is getting out of hand. The reason why these things happen is because of many factors such as influences from the media, the Internet and their friends. Media and the Internet are one of the things that older generations think have a powerful influence over these new generations compared to their friends, it is because the youths are too dependent on them for many things especially information. Thus, it is very crucial for parents to always get to know what their kids are into especially on the Internet. For example, like the movies they are watching, or the news they are reading, because the media and the Internet can be really manipulative most of the time. Apart from just parents, let us make it general so the youths and the youngsters can understand better about the good and the bad consequences of implementing street culture.
Let us start off with the good ones first. One of the good consequences of implementing street culture is it shapes a person to be an open minded kind of person. For example, you are able to understand another culture more compared to other people because in the process you are watching or reading, you unconsciously learn. Thus, it becomes one of the good reasons to know these things as well. Moreover, learning street culture makes you creative as well especially in a sense of fashion. Street culture is not necessarily about behaviours and language, it is more than that. Most people with street culture are very creative in their own ways and one of them is fashion. You can tell by their baggy clothes and pants, or their hair. Furthermore, they are also very good with music and dance movements. If you are someone with these creativities, you are recommended to imply these kinds of passion because it can benefit you as well. Not to forget, it can help you in making friends with many people who practice street cultures’ behaviours including Chinese people, and you get to learn more cultures than street culture with people. For example, Chinese people love their traditional medicine, like high cholesterol Chinese medicine Proliganic Malaysia.
But just as important, street culture has its own perks and cons as well with other things in life. The reason why it becomes a bad thing is when people practice it too much and ignore the sensitivity of the society or its culture. One of the consequences is the communication they have with other people. For example, they tend to not be sensitive about other people’s feelings or sensitivity. Furthermore, the youths and youngsters that practice street culture are only doing it because of the trend or it looks cool. Thus, the people that in street culture will normally find it rude and see it as mocking. Moreover, from all these problems kids and people who tend to do it a lot because of the trend or because it looks cool, their mind will somehow get narrower and shallow. Hence, they do not get to think like an adult and the process of growing up generally will become harder for them.
In conclusion, I think it is normal and recommended for everyone to explore every culture and traditions that exist in this world. Especially living in Malaysia, we have 3 different types of races, and in order to know how to communicate properly with people in it, we have to want to learn. Additionally, it is not a bad thing to explore, it gives us more knowledge and perspectives about things around us, and the world definitely does not revolve around us. Therefore, as long as we know our limits and boundaries, including the sensitivity of the people around us, I am sure we will turn out to be just fine and successful.
